we are thinking of connecting to GP data base from our web sql server, we already have the processor lic., do we need a connector lic to connect our sql to GP database to sync information across the internet. if so, how much ?

Good point about working with a Partner that has a reputation for solid implementations. Talk with a MS Partner about your options for an ERP since you have the choice with either an on-premise or SaaS model. You can even opt to keep some services in-house while the rest is in the Cloud.
